Kaitlin Schaer is a Software Engineer and Photographer currently splitting time between Brooklyn, NY and Berlin, DE.
Originally from Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, Kaitlin studied Fine Arts at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. While there she pursued an artistic practice in photography, printmaking, and sculpture; eventually finding new passions in creative technology and engineering. Through study-abroad opportunities and language courses, she gained an appreciation for German culture that continually brings her back to Berlin.
Kaitlin currently works as a Senior Software Engineer at Etsy, building systems and infrastructure to empower other engineering teams. In prior roles she has worked in SRE, DevOps, and Full Stack web development.
In her spare time, Kaitlin continues to pursue a photography practice that takes her to unique locations and settings around the globe.
